She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913.  <i>The Tale of Peter Rabbit</i> (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale.  \r\n\r\nThis lithograph is dated April 1896 and reflects Beatrix Potter’s keen interest in natural history; in the 1890s she made many closely observed studies of animals and plants, informed by visits to museums including the Natural History Museum.
