They no longer had any connection with playing sport but were rather an outward symbol of status and identity. Today, trainers are a wardrobe staple and it is acceptable to wear them in most, even formal, situations, especially trainers by luxury brands such as Mr. Hare. These trainers are made of high-quality leather. All shoes are designed by Marc Hare to be worn from day through to night.\r\nMarc Hare named this pair of shoe after Laurie Cunningham. According to Hare: ‘he was the first ever Englishman to play for Real Madrid. He was also the most balletic and stylish footballer around at the time Jamel Shabazz was capturing the hip hop renaissance in New York. He was also a great dancer’.\r\nMarc Hare is a London based designer of part Jamaican origin with no formal shoe designer training. He decided to start his own brand after the realisation that he could not find a good selection of men’s shoes that he liked. The first Mr. Hare store opened in Mayfair in 2012, by which time Hare’s line had sold successfully sales in stores such as Harrods and Selfridges and had gained a large celebrity fan base. Mr. Hare shoes are made in Empoli, Italy. \r\n","physicalDescription":"One pair of white leather trainers 'Cunningham White'","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Mr. Hare Ltd","id":"AUTH337634"},"association":{"text":"Designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"leather","id":"AAT11845"}],"techniques":[{"text":"shoe-making","id":"x40339"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"leather","categories":[{"text":"Footwear","id":"THES48951"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2015HR6207"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"011","id":"THES308701"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"011","id":"THES308701"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"shoe","id":"AAT46065"}],[{"text":"shoe","id":"AAT46065"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Italy","id":"x28927"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"Made in Italy designed in London"},{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"Designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2015","earliest":"2015-01-01","latest":"2015-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"NCOL.1052-2015","id":"O1324356"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"NCOL.1053-2015","id":"O1324357"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"NCOL.1055-2015","id":"O1324359"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"NCOL.1054-2015","id":"O1324358"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"Given by Mr. (Marc) Hare","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"120","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"100","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"295","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"These measurements were taken in occasion of the exhibition 'Shoes: Pleasure and Pain' (13/06/2015-31/01/2016)","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"This shoes were created in 2015 and they were given to the V&A in 2015 and included in the exhibition 'Shoes: Pleasure and Pain' (RF 2015/114)","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"One pair of white leather trainers 'Cunningham White', Mr Hare, 2015.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Label for the exhibition Shoes: Pleasure and Pain\r\nFrom the Running Track to the Red Carpet \r\n\r\nBy the 1980s, trainers were being marketed as a lifestyle choice.
