On the left, the figure of Death salivates over the dolls in lace dresses, who have been trafficked and loaded onto a cart. Dame Paula Rego used aquatint, etching, and spit-bite print techniques to create an uncomfortable atmosphere. Rego’s work often focussed on exploring violence and oppression through fairytales, nursery rhymes and childhood references.
