The game opens with two minigames, the first has you attempting to board the 'Hispaniola' by avoiding pirates, the second leaping over barrels while sailors wave swords and arms at you from below. The third part takes place on the island and is a maze/strategy game, where the player must find Ben Gunn’s cave. Captain Flint's treasure must be brought to Spy Glass Cove, avoiding enemy pirates throwing a limited-number of swords at them. In total, there were 64 different screens. At the end of the game a percentage score is awarded which reflects the ‘speed and fighting spirit with which it was played’.","physicalDescription":"Video game cassette in transparent plastic case, with printed paper insert.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Stevenson, Robert Louis Balfour","id":"AUTH333307"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":"author of 1883 novel 'Treasure Island'"}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Mr Micro Ltd","id":"AUTH333306"},"association":{"text":"publishers","id":"AAT25574"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"plastic","id":"AAT14570"},{"text":"paper","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Plastic, printed paper","categories":[{"text":"Games","id":"THES48947"},{"text":"Product design","id":"THES49025"},{"text":"Books","id":"THES48986"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":[],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"014","id":"THES302521"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"014","id":"THES302521"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"014","id":"THES302521"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"case","id":"THES251008"}],[{"text":"cassette","id":""}],[{"text":"insert","id":"AAT123227"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"United Kingdom","id":"x29336"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1984","earliest":"1984-01-01","latest":"1984-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased for the V&A exhibition 'British Design 1948-2012: Innovation in the Modern Age' [2014/755].\r\n","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Video game cassette, 'Treasure Island', Mr. Micro for Sinclair, 1984","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"Mass produced","id":"THES48863"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[{"text":"Long John Silver","id":"N7781"}],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"islands","id":"AAT8791"},{"text":"pirates","id":"x35906"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":["Treasure Island"],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["W.19:1-2016","W.19:2-2016","W.19:3-2016"],"accessionNumberNum":"19","accessionNumberPrefix":"W","accessionYear":2016,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-09","recordCreationDate":"2014-09-30","availableToBook":true}}
