It was intended to be durable enough to be used outdoors and comfortable enough to be suitable as indoor seating. The seat and back of the chair were formed of springs covered in PVC, and the chair was supplied in a range of colours: red, yellow, blue and grey. The narrow steel chair frame, with the legs fixed to the outside of the seat frame, was designed to be stackable. This example was purchased by the donor from the post-Festival sale.","physicalDescription":"Chair with fine metal frame of stove enamelled mild steel rod, with aluminium ball feet, the seat and back formed with springs covered in PVC sleeves.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Race, Ernest","id":"A18323"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"steel","id":"AAT133751"},{"text":"aluminium","id":"AAT11015"},{"text":"PVC","id":"AAT14513"}],"techniques":[{"text":"enamelling","id":"x37485"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Stove enamelled mild steel rod with aluminium and PVC","categories":[{"text":"Furniture","id":"THES48948"},{"text":"Plastic","id":"THES49026"}],"styles":[{"text":"Mid 20th century","id":"x36068"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2006AX7618","2006AX7606"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES343101"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Chair","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1951","earliest":"1951-01-01","latest":"1951-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Mr R.
