Staged that year at Drury Lane, it then remained unperformed until 1996 when it was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. This production transferred to the Pit in London's Barbican Centre the following year. Director Richard Cottrell updated the action to Victorian times. The action took place in the home of elderly scientist Dr Fossil, who lives surrounded by cabinets of curiosities, stuffed animals and skeletons. Both the set and costume designs won Olivier Awards for designer Tim Goodchild.\n\nColin Farrell (b.1938) and Doreen Andrew played Squire Thesp and Mrs Thesp.\n\n\n","physicalDescription":"Costume design for the Actor Manager, Squire Thesp, and the Actress, Mrs Thesp, in Three Hours After Marriage. 19th century gentleman with mutton chop whiskers, wearing a maroon tail coat, a black waistcoat, check trousers and a large bow tie, accompanied by a substantial lady in a grey dress with a crinoilne skirt, decorated with moths, and a large hat adorned with stuffed birds.
