His walks are materialised in artworks in the form of photographs, words and line drawings.\n\nAlongside work displayed in galleries, Fulton has also used the medium of the artist's book to realise his work.\n\n'Twilight horizons' records 'a twenty day walking journey from Dumre to Leder in Manang and back to Pokhara by way of Khudi'. The experience of the journey is conveyed primarily by line drawings printed in red of, for example, clouds, a ridge, mountains, skylines, phases of the moon and village wall paintings.\n\nEqually important are the accompanying captions, succinct texts relaying information on the individual work's subject, colour or place. The line drawings are interspersed by occasional word pieces, landscapes in words, conveyed by the varying scale and colour of their typographic arrangement.\n\nA further dramatic interlude takes the form of a stark mountain horizon printed in black.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Artist's book with line drawings, some in colour, interspersed by occasional word pieces.\r\n\r\n40 pages.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Fulton, Hamish","id":"A39939"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Coracle Press","id":"AUTH329758"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Printed book","categories":[{"text":"Artists' Books","id":"THES261563"},{"text":"National Art Library","id":"THES271541"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"NAL","id":"THES48605"},"images":["2009CC0020","2009CC0018","2009CC0003"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"NAL","id":"THES251738"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"artist's book","id":"AAT123016"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1983","earliest":"1983-01-01","latest":"1983-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"14","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"20","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Artist's book, 'Twilight horizons : a twenty day walking journey from Dumre to Leder in Mahang and back to Pokhara by way of Khudi : Nepal, early 1983', by Hamish Fulton, Coracle Press for Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux, London 1983","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Hamish Fulton (born 1946)\r\nHamish Fulton's images are given meaning through accompanying phrases that specify time, location or distinct features of the landscape.
