With interest in the sculptor's work growing, Legros urged Rodin to visit London in 1881 to meet collectors such as Constantine Alexander Ionides. During his stay, Legros introduced Rodin to the mysteries of drypoint. Rodin made this first ambitious attempt, scratched with a darning-needle on the back of one of Legros' discarded copperplates. Ionides secured one of only three proofs taken before the plate manufacturer's name was erased.","physicalDescription":"Experimental drypoint featuring a globe and figures, on a piece of scrap paper featuring an ink stamp","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Rodin, Auguste","id":"A6634"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"paper (fiber product)","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drypoint","id":"AAT53228"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Drypoint, first state","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Printmaking techniques","id":"THES252987"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AA4299","2006AF4091"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLF","id":"THES49656"},"free":"","case":"EDUC","shelf":"9","box":"C"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1881","earliest":"1876-01-01","latest":"1885-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by C.
