The song Villikins and his Dinah (or Vilikins and his Dinah) that Robson sang as Jem Bags at the end of the farce became the hit of the season and became known in English speaking countries around the world. The Musical Bouquet published this image on the ballad song sheet and the dance music arranged from it.\n\nRobson (1821-1864) who was born in Margate Thomas Brownhill, became a star of the Olympic Theatre and eventually one of its managers. He had a great talent for burlesque, or performances that parodied the originals, and one of his starring roles was his imitation of Adelaide Ristori as Medea. He became a great favourite of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who invited him to Windsor Castle for several command performances.","physicalDescription":"Music sheet for Vilikins and Dinah Quadrille.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Normann, Jules","id":"AUTH330426"},"association":{"text":"composer","id":"AAT25671"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Musical Bouquet","id":"A31411"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"},{"text":"chromolithography","id":"AAT53272"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Chromolithograph, ink on paper","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2014HB4961"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"U","id":"THES297002"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"sheet music","id":"AAT26430"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 19th century","earliest":"1795-01-01","latest":"1903-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"S.4133-2013","id":"O1274339"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.228-1989","id":"O1157195"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.156-2007","id":"O139500"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.3857-2013","id":"O1273756"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.134:648-2007","id":"O147228"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.5-2003","id":"O75771"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.2252-2013","id":"O1264224"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"S.2170-2013","id":"O1264219"},"association":"Object"}],"creditLine":"Gabrielle Enthoven Collection","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"34.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"approx","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"front cover","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"25","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"front cover","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Sheet music for Vilikins and Dinah Quadrille, arranged by Jules Normann, published by Musical Bouquet, ca. 19th century","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["S.2852-2013"],"accessionNumberNum":"2852","accessionNumberPrefix":"S","accessionYear":2013,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-04-24","recordCreationDate":"2014-03-11","availableToBook":true}}
