It shows various scenes from the original production of 'In Town'  that opened at the Prince of Wales Theatre on the16th October 1892. The actors depicted are Sylvia Grey [1866-1958] as Flo Fanshawe, Phyllis Broughton [1862-1926] as Lord Clanside,  Arthur Roberts [1852-1933] as Captain Arthur Coddington, and Flora St. John [1855-1912] as Kitty Hetherton, with the author Adrian Ross [1859-1933] depicted top right.\n<i>\nIn Town</i> transferred to The Gaiety Theatre on 29th December 1892 and ran for 229 performances, initiating the very successful series of modern-dress musicals mounted by George Edwardes and James T. Tanner including <i>A Gaiety Girl</i>, Prince of Wales Theatre 1893,<i> The Shop Girl</i>, Gaiety Theatre 1894, <i>An Artist’s Mode</i>l, and <i>A Modern Trilby</i>, Daly’s Theatre 1895. The first American production of In Town opened on Broadway at the Knickerbocker Theatre, 6th September 1897, starring W.
