A strip of the photograph has been overlaid with a drawing or engraving showing the interiors of the houses and ship. Goods are being unloaded from the ship into the neighbouring warehouses; in the houses poor and immigrant families are depicted doing jobs such as laundry and darning shirts. The historic 'moment' is situated by using well known events based on local experience, and stylistic devices of the period. Images for the photomurals were developed through research and discussion with community representatives who served on the co-operative’s committee. Montage was created using a scalpel and final images hand coloured.\r\n\r\nSecond image from a series of six for The Changing Picture of Docklands photomural Housing Sequence displayed as 18ft x 12ft (5.49m x 3.66m) photo-murals on eight billboard sites in and around the London Docklands.
