Her work in print is informed by her previous training in sculpture, and her current work is focused on the implications of digital media on our perceptions of space and embodiment – all issues explored in this subtle complex print. She works with 3D modelling programs to explore definitions of the ‘virtual’ and the ‘real’ as demonstrated here between different methods and styles of representation. This print, ‘any which way (‘speak modernity’)', is a 7-layer screenprint, with imagery derived from photography and digital media, and as such exemplifies her interest in the relationship between digital technologies and older forms of print technology. It has been printed as a photographic halftone with 2 layers of varnish on the top part of the cube. The right-hand shapes have been printed from handmade positives drawn from the photographic image and coloured with the process colours Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. It incorporates a 1940′s advertisement by Bakelite Plastics projecting a vision for the future. Stockham has reworked the geometric shapes within the photographic halftone and developed another projected future; one fuelled by the reductive and purist qualities of the Modernist era.","physicalDescription":"Image of hands grasping outlined geometric forms. on the left; other geometric forms coloured blue, yellow, pink and white float in space on the right-hand side.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Stockham , Jo","id":"AUTH327626"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Invisible Print Studio","id":"AUTH327729"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[{"text":"screenprint","id":"x36290"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Screenprint","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2014HA4712"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB2G","shelf":"MP340","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":"AAT41273"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"x46159"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2013","earliest":"2013-01-01","latest":"2013-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"x46159"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Jo Stockham and Michael Hall","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"48","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"67","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"sheet","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"H/C 'any which way: speak modernity' Jo Stockham 2013","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Hors Commerce proof; title; signature; date.
