The designers wanted to create a sharp urban/office look for a new generation of women. The sari and fabric for the shirt have been handwoven using the time consuming double-ikat technique which reproduces a tessellated houndstooth pattern associated with western clothing. The accompanying long-sleeved shirt is tailored in a western style and very unlike the sort-sleeved cholis that are usually worn with saris. Together the ensemble is a fusion of many cultural influences\r\n","physicalDescription":"The sari consists of two sections with a black and white houndstooth pattern which then leads into a plain chartreuse/yellow section. It is made from silk, using a double ikat handwoven technique which black borders on either side. The shirt is made from the same fabric as the sari, the front and sleeves made from the houndstooth pattern with a back panel in chartreuse/yellow.
