The gnome is part of a set that accompany a Father Christmas to make a festive display. This was designed and made by Margaret Hickson, a member of the British Doll Artists Association. Kenneth Hickson (who made this desk) and artist and illustrator Betty Lorrimar worked on parts of the figures and accessories. The set was given to the museum as a gift in the early 1990s and has proved to be a very popular Christmas display.
