This bust shows him in the classical manner, with cropped hair and wearing a toga. This suited his professional status, as the education and training of lawyers in Britain was partly based on Roman examples.\r\n\r\nAdy (active 1730-1753; d. before 1762) executed a number of funerary monuments, but also carved on a small-scale, and made an ornamental ballot-box for the Society of Dilettanti, as well as ivory carvings.","physicalDescription":"The subject looks to his half left. His hair is dressed in tight curls, close to the head. Voluminous drapery is caught on his right shoulder with a circular clasp. The bust has no inscription.
