They were published in 1804 by Richard Phillips, in Itinerant Traders of London in their Ordinary Costume with Notices of the Remarkable Places given in the background. This was a supplement to Richard Phillips' 1804 publication Modern London: Being the History and Present State of the British Metropolis.\n\nEach plate in Itinerant Traders is accompanied by brief information on its subject, this one noting that the playbill sellers bought their stock from the theatres and sold them outside, or gave one with the purchase of six oranges. This vendor, standing outside the colonnade of Drury Lane Theatre in Russell Street, also appears to have nuts in her basket that she measured with a metal scoop.","physicalDescription":"Hand coloured engraving depicting a bill seller outside the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Craig, William Marshall","id":"A4683"},"association":{"text":"engraver","id":"x30813"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Phillips, Richard","id":"A25367"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"pen and ink and watercolour","id":"x32505"}],"techniques":[{"text":"print-making","id":"AAT131119"},{"text":"engraving","id":"AAT53225"},{"text":"hand colouring","id":"AAT133555"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Hand coloured engraving, printed ink and watercolour on paper","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Street life","id":"THES268063"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2013GT0501"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES356570"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"prints","id":"AAT41273"}],[{"text":"engravings","id":"AAT41340"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"No","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1804","earliest":"1804-01-01","latest":"1804-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Harry R.
