The knickers have an elasticised waist and are also elasticised at the waist. There are two small lace frills and the legs are also frilled. Just above the frills to the right is an embroidered blue applique wreath. In the seam is a label printed in black and green which reads ‘PERRY/ WEAR LTD/ IN COURTAULDS/ CEYLON/ MADE IN BRITAIN’. There are also some ‘WASH’ instructions to the left but this is hard to read due to the label being crumpled. There is also another label which is too crumpled to read.\r\n\r\nThese knickers are part of larger gift given to the Museum by Daphne Pearce who wore the clothes as a young girl growing up in the Northern suburbs of London. The clothes are all in pristine condition and were worn from the 1950s to 1960s and show a range from baby wear to pre-teen years, approximately 12. This collection typifies the clothing of the period and clothing labels and styles of the middle classes.\r\n\r\n","physicalDescription":"Girl’s synthetic white sports knickers.
