This print forms part of a portfolio of caricatures, <i>Stage Folk: A Book of Caricatures by Frueh</i>, published by Lieber &amp; Lewis in 1922.  It was exhibited at the Theatre Museum in <i>Theatre Caricatures by Al Frueh: West End Meets Broadway</i>, in 1990.\n\nThis print shows the popular Shakespearean actress Julia Marlowe (1866-1950) in the 1912 New York production of <i>Romeo and Juliet</i>.  Her first appearance in London was in the fairy play <i>The Sunken Bell</i> at the Waldorf in 1907 which had transferred from the Lyric Theatre in New York, performing alongside her actor husband E.
