Herod was played by the Irish actor Spranger Barry (1719-1777). Ann Barry was Spranger Barry's second wife whom he married in 1768.\n\nMariamne I (supposedly died 29BC), and also called Mariamne the Hasmonean, was said to have been known as a great beauty. She was a Hasmonean princess and the second wife of Herod the Great.
