He is a plush, pink teddy bear with a big plum nose, a sweet strawberry scent and a southern accent. As the leader of the toys at the Sunnyside Daycare Center, he initially acts like a kind-hearted and wise caretaker, but is later revealed to be more of a ruthless warden, although his backstory makes him more of a tragic villain.\r\nUnlike a lot of Toy Story characters who are based on real old toys such as Mr Potato Head, Lotso was invented just for this film. For advertising purposes some fake 1980s television advertisements were made by Pixar, the company behind the film, in order to try and convince people that Lotso was an old bear.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Thinkway Toys","id":"A14147"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Children & Childhood","id":"THES48980"},{"text":"Dolls & Toys","id":"THES48967"},{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"YVA","id":"THES48593"},"images":["2017KJ6154","2012FK3246"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"SR011","id":"THES341117"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"SR011","id":"THES341117"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"teddy bear","id":"AAT211334"}],[{"text":"box","id":"AAT45643"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"China","id":"x29398"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2011","earliest":"2011-01-01","latest":"2011-12-31"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Boxed teddy bear, Lots-O-Huggin', Thinkway Toys; made in China 2011.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["B.104:1-2012","B.104:2-2012"],"accessionNumberNum":"104","accessionNumberPrefix":"B","accessionYear":2012,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE","bear","box"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-05-11","recordCreationDate":"2012-10-18","availableToBook":false}}
