This drawing, Crowning the Victors at Olympia, shows a detail of one of the six canvases that are still displayed in that room (another drawing in the V&A collection, D. 2005.1885, is connected to this commission), and is preparatory for one of the prints that Barry executed after the paintings. In an attempt to clarify the complex and overcrowded images of the paintings, the artist had decided to simplify them when he transposed the compositions into prints.","physicalDescription":"Drawing of Diagoras, a former champion, being carried on the shoulders of his two muscular, victorious sons.
