They were cheap and disposable, and the simple 2-D shape was ideal for the bold graphic prints that were so fashionable.\r\n\r\nDispo's paper dresses and skirts were actually made out of a bonded cellulose fibre and could be washed. A <i>Which</i> magazine consumer trial found that they could be worn at least six times, while other brands would not survive beyond two or three. This printed design was based on an Art Nouveau textile in the V&A collections.","physicalDescription":"Skirt of bonded cellulose fibre with a belt.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Diane Meyersohn","id":"A21674"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Silverstein, Joanne","id":"AUTH344499"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Dispo (Meyersohn & Silverstein Ltd)","id":"A17312"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"cellulose","id":"AAT12861"}],"techniques":[{"text":"sewing","id":"AAT53658"},{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"},{"text":"bonded","id":"AAT53014"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Bonded cellulose fibre ('Bondina') and printed","categories":[{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2006BK8596","2006AU5981"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"008","id":"THES307905"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"008","id":"THES307905"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Skirt","id":""}],[{"text":"Belt","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1967","earliest":"1967-01-01","latest":"1967-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Diane Meyersohn","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Registered File number 1986/2141.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Skirt of bonded cellulose fibre with a belt, made by Dispo (Meyersohn & Silverstein Ltd), London, 1967.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["T.180-1986","T.180A-1986"],"accessionNumberNum":"180","accessionNumberPrefix":"T","accessionYear":1986,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE","Skirt","Belt"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-08","recordCreationDate":"2006-06-21","availableToBook":true}}
