Everett Millais produced over three hundred designs for illustrations in poetry books, periodicals, novels, religious literature, and books for children. This particular drawing was engraved by the Dalziel Brothers, a London-based printmaking firm, to illustrate <i>Moses on the Nile</i>, a poem by James Grahame, published in <i>Lays of the Holy Land from Ancient and Modern Poets</i> (1858). The use of the watercolour technique in this drawing suggests that the artist may have retouched the sheet for presentation or perhaps for sale after it had been used for the book illustration.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Millais, John Everett (Sir)","id":"A2295"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Watercolour","categories":[],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2016JR4241","2018KX0445"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLE","id":"THES49657"},"free":"","case":"I","shelf":"128","box":"B"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"watercolour","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"19th century","earliest":"1800-01-01","latest":"1900-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by H.
