The background is covered with scattered dashes of dark red silk thread in satin stitch. The associated belt is in the same material with blue velvet ends. The gown was given to the V&A by her granddaughter. Rachel was married to her first cousin Moise Abraham Sassoon (b.18th September 1866 in Egypt) in Singapore in 1896.
