Set in the Dark Ages the plot centred around the cynical and manipulative King Flavio played by Berenstadt, whose actions threatened to wreak havoc to those around him. The supposed setting of a play or opera made little difference to 18th century stage costume, as can be seen from Cuzzoni's fashionable contemporary dress as Emilia and the classically-inspired breastplates and helmet of Berenstadt and Senesino as Flavio and Guido. \n\nThe title on this print mistakenly credits the three singers as Farinelli, Cuzzoni and Senisino instead of Berenstadt, Cuzzoni and Senesino.","physicalDescription":"Engraving of Gaetano Berenstadt as Flavio, Francesca Cauzzoni as Emilia and Francesco Bernardi (Senesino) as Guido on stage in Act III, Scene 4 of<i> Flavio </i>by Handel.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Hogarth, William","id":"A8514"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Barlow, John","id":"A31032"},"association":{"text":"engraver","id":"x30813"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"print-making","id":"AAT131119"},{"text":"engraving (printing process)","id":"AAT53225"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Engraving","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2013GU1884"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES356570"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"prints","id":"AAT41273"}],[{"text":"engravings","id":"AAT41340"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"x46159"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"March 1798","earliest":"1798-03-01","latest":"1798-03-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"S.4254-2009","id":"O209422"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"S.952-2010","id":"O1159950"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"Harry R.
