Created in 1958 to an original score by Hans Werner Henze as a vehicle for Margot Fonteyn, it was successfully recreated by Ashton for The Royal Ballet in 1988. The three-act ballet tells of Palemon's infatuation with the water nymph, Ondine, and the tragedy that arises when he is unfaithful to her.\n\nAnthony Crickmay began his photographic career as an assistant to the Austrian portrait photographer, Lotte Meitner-Graf, who had a studio in London's Bond Street in the late 1940s.
