Pencil lines and shading have been added over the bodycolour to define the folds and details of the skirt and jacket, such as the buttons, the pockets and the triangular 'sprat-head' details on the seams and skirt pleat. An area of text in pencil at the bottom left describes this detail, as well as the colour and material. A smaller pencil sketch at the right shows the back of the suit, emphasising the nipped-in waist.
