In the 1970’s she trained in Jewellery Design at the Central School of Art, and Silversmithing at the Royal College of Art. She has been enamelling since 1974 and uses the traditional techniques of champlevé and basse-taille. Her work may be richly coloured or make more subtle use of the wide range of colours available to the enameller and are a painterly and evocative exploration of colour and imagery. She also collaborates with other silversmiths and makers to interpret their colour designs into enamel and received an MBE for services to the Craft of Enamelling in 2016.\r\n“I am endlessly fascinated with the vitality, subtlety and beauty of enamel on silver, and each of my pieces is an exploration into its possibilities.”","physicalDescription":"Bowl, silver covered in cloisonné enamel. Circular, it rises from a small foot, swelling outwards before returning inwards towards the rim. The enamel is a deep blue black and is applied both to the inside and outside of the bowl, the design flowing around the top and spilling inside in a rich texture of reds, purples and aquamarines.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Short, Jane","id":"A15177"},"association":{"text":"enameller","id":"AAT25258"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Clive Burr","id":"AUTH316109"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":"Clive Burr raised the silver bowl.
