The unconventional, step through frame design meant that the bicycle was unisex and the rider could dismount quickly in an emergency. The small wheels with high pressure tyres developed in association with Dunlop allowed the rider to accelerate and go faster than on a conventional bicycle. Another unique feature was the innovative rubber cone spring design invented and developed by Alex Moulton and first used on the British Motor Corporation Austin / Morris Mini when it was introduced in 1959. \n\nThe bike won the Design Centre Award in 1964.
