The slender gothic tracery surrounding the arms indicates that this panel was carved at some time from about 1450. The fleur-de-lys had been the royal emblem of France from about 1180, but this panel is more likely to have come from a town hall or house of a loyal subject than the monarch himself.","physicalDescription":"\"Panel, French, late 15th cenury.
