The interior is decorated in silver yusen with flowering chrysanthemums and trailing leaves in shades of green and white enamels. The chrysanthemum petals are executed in totai-jippo translucent enamels in shades of blue, purple and white, with silver yusen being used to outline of the petals. The leaves have an almost three-dimensional quality and appear to float as if on water. On the exterior of the bowl the chrysanthemums are complemented by stylised brown paulownia (kiri) leaves in silver yusen. The base, enamelled in a matt brown, has the silver yusen mark of the Ando Company. See Fairley, Japanese Enamels of the Meiji period, no. 53 for another bowl by the Ando Company decorated in a similar technique with chrysanthemums.","physicalDescription":"Cloisonné enamel bowl decorated with chrysanthemum flowers beariong the mark of the Ando Company.
