The rich dark green ground is decorated with large-headed yellow and white narcissi in a combination of shaded silver yusen, shosen and musen enamels. The faint colours of the flowers and the vanishing stems have an almost ethereal quality. The decoration is distinctly modern in feel and does not follow or imitate any recognisably traditional Japanese style.
