It is decorated with geometrical shapes delineated by gilded copper yusen wires which divide the yellow enamel ground into grid-like sections. The central side panels have been cast or hammered into curves; the wires here are largely invisible under heavily applied alternating bands of blue, white and dark orange enamel, areas of which have been highlighted in gold. The interior ground is a combination of thickly applied purple and turquoise enamels, with gilded vertical wiring. The inside of the dark brown enamelled base has the gilt copper yusen mark of the Ando Company. The vessel has a strongly Art-Deco feel and reflects the craze for Egyptian-inspired design that followed the discovery of Tutanhkamen's tomb in 1922. An inscription on the associated box for this vessel describes it as being for the presentation of fruit and carries the signature and faded red seal [Ando] Jubei.","physicalDescription":"Cloisonné enamel fruit dish decorated with geometric patterns.
