The vase has silver yusen enamel decoration of chrysanthemum and other flowers and a bird (perhaps a type of warbler) perching on a branch of plum blossom. The back of the vase has a flock of four similar birds in flight. The neck rim and foot rim are decorated with silver yusen enamel blossoms and small cloud-scrolls; the neck has a band of cicada-wing lappets and the shoulders and the area above the foot rim are decorated with small chrysanthemums within stylised geometric panels.
