The scandal resulted in Profumo's resignation. Keeler (1942 - 2017) posed naked on this chair for a series of publicity shots in which she boldly and unapologetically asserts her sexuality (see Museum no. E.15-1999). While this contact sheet provides more intimate insight into Keeler’s photoshoot with Morley, it is also a symbol of the increasing voice of women’s liberation in the 1960s. \r\n\r\nThe piece of furniture featured in the photoshoot is a copy of an iconic Arne Jacobsen 3107 chair (see Museum no. Circ.371-1970). The original Arne Jacobsen chair was made from moulded plywood and manufactured by the Danish firm Fritz Hansens in the mid-1950s. Although made in Denmark, Keeler's chair is in fact an early 'rip-off' of Jacobsen's design. Morley claimed to have bought the chair at a Heal's sale in 1962 for £2 10s. He has also photographed the playwright Joe Orton and the comedian Barry Humphries sitting on it.
