Germany, ca. 1890-1910.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"The cabinet is made of simulated carved wood using an interesting, novel process developed in Germany.  The design is transferred to a female mould into which a sheet of veneer is laid. A mixture of sawdust and glue is put on top and the whole pressed under steam and heat for a period of time.  The softened veneer can take on quite sharp details from the mould and is stabilised by the reconstituted wood resembling modern chipboard.
