The design shows a light brown ground with a red niche. The niche is supported by two red columns and topped by a large single blossom, from which spring two others.  On the outside of each red column is half a red column with a stylised sprig of leaves and flower in between.  Inside the niche is a stylised willow tree growing from a blue vase which is resting on a serrated mound edged in red/blue.  There are two spandrels at the top with blue ground and a floral arabesque. The border is of white ground with an angular meander on a green stem with red blossoms and blue palmettes. The inner and outer borders have dark blue ground with small green meander and red/white blossoms. The outermost border has reciprocal diamond heads in blue and white outlined with red and then an outer band of undecorated dark blue.\n\nWARP:  white cotton, Z12S; 32 threads per inch (120 per dm), depressed.\r\n\r\nWEFT: white cotton, Z6S; parallel threads per inch, two shoots after each row of knots. Seventeen knots to the inch (60 per dm).\r\n\r\nPILE: wool in seven colours: red, light yellow, green, dark blue, blue, light brown, white. Symmetrical knot tied around two threads, 272 knots to the sq. inch (3600 per sq. dm).\r\n\r\nSIDE FINISH: two cords overcast with purple (faded, and faded to orange towards the upper end), red and blue silk.
