The original painting showed a rural British landscape, typical of Constable and the 19th-century British landscape genre.\r\n\r\nIn his early career, Duncan Grant was the leading light of the Bloomsbury Group. Grant’s work with them, as well as in the design-led Omega Workshops, leaned more towards Expressionism than this print would suggest. This etching is an interesting example of an artist taking direct inspiration from another artist’s work.
