Sanger's Amphitheatre. ca.1872. Performance category: pantomime, circus, equestrian drama. The theatre was remodelled in 1872 and went under Sanger's management, so this poster is likely to be fairly soon after 1872. The theatre was condemned as unsafe and demolished in 1893.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Coloured woodcut poster advertising the pantomime The Birth of Beauty: Harlequin the Conqueror, or the Pretty White Horse with the Golden Hoof! at Sanger's Amphitheatre, ca.1872.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Westminster Bridge Road Road, London","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["S.253-1998"],"accessionNumberNum":"253","accessionNumberPrefix":"S","accessionYear":1998,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-08","recordCreationDate":"2010-08-03","availableToBook":true}}
