These enabled the company to showcase its current repertoire. In 1982 there were programme-length ballets, including Rudolf Nureyev's staging of The Sleeping Beauty, Mary Skeaping's Giselle and the premiere of John Field's Swan Lake, designed by Carl Toms. The season also featured mixed programmes of Les Sylphides (Mikhail Fokine staged by Alicia Markova), The Storm (Andre Prokovsky) and Etudes (Harald Lander), and Switch Bitch (Trevor Wood), Sphinx (Glen Tetley) and Verdi Variations (Andre Prokovsky).\n\nAnthony Crickmay, the photographer of this poster, began his career as an assistant to the Austrian portrait photographer, Lotte Meitner-Graf, who had a studio in London's Bond Street in the late 1940s. Crickmay set up his own studio in 1958 where he built up a high-profile range of sitters, including members of the royal family, and developed an international reputation as a photographer of theatre, opera, and especially dance. Although he regularly took photographs of productions on stage, as with this image of the garland dance from the opening of Act I of The Sleeping Beauty, he preferred to work more closely with dancers in his own studio.\r\n\r\n","physicalDescription":"Photographic and typographic poster on a royal blue ground.
