Blache premiered at the Theatre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris on 19th April 1817.\r\n\r\nThis design is a duplicate of S.1037-2010 but in this case only one section of the costume being worn by Mme. Pierson has had coloured added to it. The result is that in this version of the print she appears entirely in white apart for her crimson coloured headdress. The original design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 449. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.","physicalDescription":"This full length coloured engraving shows a man and a woman. The man is dressed in black clerical robes, hat and a white stock. He is towering over the tiny figure of the woman, who is dressed in a shin length white dress with a series of alternating flounces at the hem over which she wears a short apron. The woman stands with her arms crossed over her chest, her hands held in those of the man who stands to her right.
