Desfontaines and was first performed in Paris at the Théâtre du Vaudeville on 2nd October 1809.\r\n\r\nThis design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 189. It is inscribed 'Carle del' so may possibly have been created by Carle (Antoine-Charles-Horace) Vernet (1758-1836).
