The libretto was written by Leblanc du Roullet and was based on Jean Racine's tragedy <i>Iphigénie</i>. It was premiered at the Paris Opéra on 19th April 1774.\r\n\r\nThis design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 183.
