The opera is in five acts and premiered in Paris in 1836. The libretto was written by Eugène Scribe and Émile Deschamps.\r\n\r\nThis print shows the costume worn by the singer Dérivis (1808-1880) who sang the role of Comte de Nevers, (a Catholic nobleman) in the original production.\r\n\r\nThe print is part of the Harry Beard Collection.","physicalDescription":"A full length coloured lithograph of an actor dressed in white doublet and hose trimmed with gold braid and wearing a scarlet cloak, also trimmed with gold braid.
