The decoration is based on the characters created by Bertram Lamb, who lived in Chesterfield, and illustrated by Austen Bowen-Payne. \r\n\r\nPip (a dog), Squeak (a penguin) and Wilfred (a baby rabbit) were the stars of a cartoon on the children's pages in the Daily Mirror from 1919 to 1955. Peter Gerald Lamb was born on 30th March 1933 and lived at 27 Churchill Way, Plymouth, Devon. The lampshade remained in his bedroom until he moved to Bristol and got married in 1967. He subsequently used the lampshade in his children's bedrooms.\r\n\r\nAt the time of its purchase, the donor's father, Francis Gerald Lamb was an electrical engineer with Plymouth Corporation.","historicalContext":"The characters on the lampshade are based on illustrations by Austen Bowen-Payne, Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.
