In the late 1960s they created psychedelic posters for many of the English bands of the time, and decorated and advertised Nigel Waymouth's King's Road boutique, Granny Takes a Trip. They also designed for concerts held at the UFO club and Saville Theatre, and for underground magazine <i>Oz</i>. Their influences came from the decorative and eroticised designs of Art Nouveau, combined with the melting rainbow colours of LSD visions and pop art inspirations from the post-war media; traces of Disney, horror movie monsters and comic book characters and can often be seen hiding amongst the images.\r\n\r\nThe Crazy World of Arthur Brown was an English psychedelic rock band formed by singer Arthur Brown in 1967. Their song \"Fire\" (released in 1968 as a single and on the group's only album) was one of the one-hit wonders in the UK and U.S. of the 1960s, although Arthur Brown followed up this song with three albums with the band Kingdom Come. The band toured the US with Jimi Hendrix and Arthur Brown was notable for his theatrics, including setting a specially made helmet on fire, and stripping off naked on stage.","physicalDescription":"Poster printed with yellow to pink gradient background, featuring the Disney characters Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, and some dragon-like creatures, overprinted with widely spaced halftone forming an image in blue of a man's face in a horned headdress, with the band name printed in the bottom left corner in a circular pattern.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Hapshash and the Coloured Coat","id":"A16610"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"screen printing","id":"AAT53281"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Screen print on paper.","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"},{"text":"Advertising","id":"THES49001"}],"styles":[{"text":"Psychedelic","id":"AAT112743"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2014GY1895"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"006","id":"THES345266"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"posters","id":"AAT27221"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1968","earliest":"1968-01-01","latest":"1968-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Michael English","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"76","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"55.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"They are agitated / by the drums. / The four Bacals ride / to Earth on the back of a Green rainbow / one by one the stars fall.","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""},{"content":"CRAZY WORLD OF / ARTHUR / BROWN","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster for The Crazy World of Arthur Brown in gradient of pink to yellow colourway.
