His artistic style developed while at art college in Croydon, where he was influenced by the ideas of the avant-garde political group, the Situationist International. The political slant to his art was aroused by the May 1968 Paris student riots, which inspired fraternal protests organised by Reid at the Croydon College of Art. These were directed with fellow student Malcolm McLaren, later to become the manager of the Sex Pistols, for whom Reid created his most famous work.","physicalDescription":"Red and yellow text written on cut white paper in felt tip pen reading 'Rock 'n Roll'.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Reid, Jamie","id":"A7906"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"paper (fiber product)","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"writing","id":"AAT54698"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Pen on paper.","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2017JR7501","2017JR7503"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"010","id":"THES345270"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"010","id":"THES345270"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"graphic design","id":"AAT54181"}],[{"text":"graphic design","id":"AAT54181"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"late 1970s","earliest":"1975-01-01","latest":"1979-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Rock 'n' Roll.","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Red and yellow text written on cut white paper in felt tip pen reading 'Rock 'n Roll', late 1970s.
