Matthew Hilton designed this armchair for the Italian manufacturer Driade in 1992. He made this fibreglass mould for a 1:5 scale model of the armchair, to show its shape and proportions. The mould is in two parts, a top and a bottom, and the cast is made of filler.","physicalDescription":"Fibreglass mould in two parts, and a cast of a 1:5 scale model of a low-back armchair","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Hilton, Matthew","id":"A2917"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Hilton, Matthew","id":"A2917"},"association":{"text":"model maker","id":"AAT248289"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[{"text":"","id":""}],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Furniture","id":"THES48948"},{"text":"Designs","id":"THES48968"},{"text":"Plastic","id":"THES49026"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2011EY4982","2011EY4987","2011EY4983","2008BT4272","2011EY4977","2011EY4978","2011EY4984"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"135","id":"THES49878"},"free":"","case":"BY10","shelf":"CASE1","box":""},{"current":{"text":"135","id":"THES49878"},"free":"","case":"BY10","shelf":"CASE1","box":""},{"current":{"text":"135","id":"THES49878"},"free":"","case":"BY10","shelf":"CASE1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Mould for model chair","id":""}],[{"text":"Mould for model chair","id":""}],[{"text":"Cast for model chair","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1992","earliest":"1992-01-01","latest":"1992-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Matthew Hilton","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"Measured from object by LC 28.1.11","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Fibreglass mould in two parts, and a cast made of filler, being a 1:5 scale model of an armchair designed by Matthew Hilton for Driade in 1992.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Designed for Driade, Italy","productionType":{"text":"Model","id":"THES48867"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Model with two-part mould for ‘Orion’ armchair (scale 1:5)\r\n1992\r\nDesigned and made by Matthew Hilton (born 1957) \r\n\r\nEngland (London)\r\nEnd product manufactured by Driade, Piacenza \r\n\r\nTwo-part mould: fibreglass with grey gel coat\r\nModel: car body filler (polyester resin with filler powder)\r\n\r\nGiven by Matthew Hilton\r\nMuseum no.
