Beneath the image of a bunch of grapes, doubling as a deathly skull, is a quote by Cesar Chavez, respected Chicano civil rights leader and labour activist. Chavez was also the head of the United Farm Workers, which he founded in 1962 as the National Farm Workers Association, lobbying for employment rights and living standards for farm workers. The successful and high-profile boycott of California table grapes demanded that growers stop using toxic chemicals which harmed farm workers.
