She came to England in 1781 where she performed in opera at London's Haymarket Theatre, and where, according to the article <i>Opera Salaries in Eighteenth Century London</i> by Judith Milhous and Robert D. Home, her salary for the 1872-73 season was £800 and her Benefit 'not quite £600'.\n\nRichard Cosway (1742-1821), the artist of the original painting after which this was engraved, was a leading portrait painter of the Regency and Georgian era, best known for his miniatures. He painted the Prince of Wales in 1780, and was appointed his Principal Painter ca.1786.
